Help; I'm being repressed!

In other news

I think I`m in love with Dylan Moran.

Goddammit, they just keep throwing these accented people at me and I`m helpless.

Help; I'm being repressed!

My last word on Doctor Who

Because I know, eventually, you have to let it go.

Much better.

Help; I'm being repressed!

Doctor Who

Well, that was absolute brilliance right up until the last 10 minutes.

Now I'm just depressed.

Help; I'm being repressed!

Just finished reading In Cold Blood the other day - spectacular. I was mildly unimpressed (that is, I thought it was a bit over-rated) until about 3/4 of the way through, but the last quarter completely took my breath away.

Summer book count: 10, I think.

DOWNLOAD FASTER DOCTOR WHO, COME ON NOW!

And lastly - holy crap, I'm 21 in 3 days.

Help; I'm being repressed!

Oh. Sweet. Zombie. Jesus. This, Futurama, and Black Books in the same week? I FUCKING LOVE TV.

Two technology related questions:

1. Why won’t lj send me notifications when someone’s responded to a comment anymore? I can’t remember all the comments I make, how am I supposed to go back and check them?

2. Are the Doctor Who confidential episodes in full on the DVDs, or are they abbreviated? In other words - I have all the season sets, but do I still need to download the confidentials in order to see the full thing, or are the provided in full on the DVDs?

And now back to my hole.

Books

Summer Book Count: 9 (Oh, it's a sad, sad state of affairs we're in)

The Lorax )

New Europe - Michael Palin

June of 2008

Five Stars.

Like all his travel books: engaging, humourous, educational.

But now for the big news: Full review on pajiba.com some time this week! Holy shit!! May I ask a favour of my flist? If the comments section starts getting cruel, don't let me be stupid about it.

Next up: Doctor Who.

I'll be whatever I wanna do

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ok, BEST early birthday present EVER. My brother got me Futurama's latest, "Beast With A Billion Backs." Am about to go eat dinner, so can't watch it yet, but it looks SOOOO pretty, and it matches Bender's Big Score perfectly, and MAURICE LAMARCHE IS IN THE COMMENTARY THIS TIME AND I LOVE HIM (I love them all).

I get excited about a lot of things, but nothing TV related ever quite compares to Futurama. Yay.

*content sigh*

I am so glad that Stephen Moffat exists.

Help; I'm being repressed!

Hey, guess what. I have two jobs this summer! At the bookstore (same as last summer), and writing book reviews for a website. An actual paying job. The first one is due on the 17th of June.

I also, for the next 2 weekends, am taking driving lessons, so for the next 14 days, I have NO WEEKENDS, and get home after 4pm every day. Woe is me :P Okay, I know things could be worse, I really do, but I'm exhausted just thinking about this. Ah well.

So once again, I'm going on a leave of absence from livejournal. I know, I keep doing that, I read the flist for one or two days every month if I'm lucky, and then I disappear again. I suck at the internet. But I don't want to suck at life, so I'm going to go deal with that for a little while.

George Harrison

It was amazing, and I have billions of pictures, but I'm really overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I have to do now that I'm back, so please give me a couple of days.

Hope you're all doing awesome :)

Help; I'm being repressed!

audio books

Can I ask a quick favour? Because I don't want to bring too many books with me to England (too much weight), but I DO want to read (too much Donna), can anyone recommend me some audiobooks to download? I'm going to be picky though - I'd like audiobooks that are specifically good as audiobooks (otherwise I'll just read the actual book later).

...

If that made sense.

Please rec some audiobooks that you enjoyed, in short.

Thanks in advance :)

Terry Jones - Boo!

Book reviews and dog news

Alright, so after my computer deleted that bio essay, my dad convinced me (and boy was it difficult) to get a new computer. Having LOVED the old one as I did, I through it on the floor, danced on its grave, and bought myself a shiny, new, sleek, black wonder that came with a REMOTE CONTROL. I love this thing. Me and the other one never got on, it was such a textbook rebound relationship from my original baby, who I spilled tea on.

Anyway, the new one has no photoshop at the moment, so icon making is off for the time being. Also, I have a ton of organising of files to do (both real and virtual). Plus, the internet went down on Monday, and I didn't get it back until yesterday afternoon. THE HORROR, I know.

Now for the more serious news. If I had posted yesterday I would have been a basket case, but we've been to the vet and things have settled down. Basically, my baby boy (that would be Fudge, the Sherman family poodle/bundle of adorableness) developed pancreatitis.

Summer book count: 1

Three Cups of Tea - Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin (8/10; 10/10 for the story, 6/10 for the writing)

I was wondering if anyone would mind constructively criticising this – if it’s going to be published, I’d like it to be at least somewhat good.

Also - I have been keeping up with my Who. But that is a post for another day, I think.

Help; I'm being repressed!

Exams over, move-out started, chaos never-ending.

I'm going back to Toronto on Monday, and then, FINALLY, will have time for the internet.

And I don't think I've mentioned: I leave for Britain on the 9th of May! I AM GOING TO BRITAIN! For just over two weeks! Fantastic.

Anyway, more later - much packing and matza-eating to be done.

Hope you're all doing well :)

Was this really the best you could come up with?

Help; I'm being repressed!

This journal is currently 81.222707% Friends Locked. Though that number is subject to change, if you want the majority of the tags bellow to mean more than diddly squat, leave me a message here.

Art, icons, and fics (on the off-chance that there ever are any) will ordinarily not be f-locked.

Books?

Just something to make me seem a little less like a self-involved little monster?

Book reviews?

Um, rating scale would be as follows:
5 or higher = the reading was worth it on some level.
lower than 5 = the reading was not worth it for various reasons of rising severity.
1 = utter garbage. Should be burnt.
10 = new to the list of Donna's favourite books. Because everyone cares. Oh, I know it.

Help; I'm being repressed!

Hey future me:

It has just occurred to you that the Mario creaters have a very loose grasp on living beings. There is a monkey named donkey, and a mushroom named toad. Strange.

Now, I have a lot of work to do this break, but I'm also hoping to spend at least some of it catching up and saying hi; although I say that all the time, and it rarely actually happens. But I'll try.
